This past week I’ve been determined to get all laundry under control. It seems there is always laundry to do and put away. Finally I decided to dedicate myself to getting rid of what we don’t wear and organizing what we do. Take a look at my husband”s sock drawer.

The socks are actually matched and folded together. I was a good wife this past week. I try to do a load of laundry a day to keep on top of things. So far it’s working. Now that the laundry is under control, it’s time to move to the rest of the house.

This week’s tackle has no picture because it’s an ongoing project, so where I’ve been tackling doesn’t look like much has been done! Let me explain.

We moved back in the fall and have a lot in storage on the back porch of my Mom’s building that was her antique shop. So, with the nice weather and inspired by Dan Aslett’s book, A Cluttered Mind, I’ve decided to tackle all of our storage and either donate or reorganize what we plan to keep. Hopefully we will be donating at least 75% of the stuff.

This week I’ve been tackling all of our clothes that were being stored on the back porch. I only rescued a few items and donated the rest. I had been keeping most of it on the off chance that we had another rummage sale then I could make a few dollars. What I have since realized is that there will always be items that I can add to a rummage sale and I don’t necessarily have to keep boxes of stuff to sell once a year.

I hauled off three garbage bags and one plastic tote full of clothing. It felt good to give it away and get it out of my life. I literally felt like a weight had been lifted. So hopefully I can sort through some other stuff later this week and make another donation drop. It would be wonderful to fully tackle it this week. When I get it all done, I will definitely take pictures.

I’m so proud of myself. After months of wanting to run a contest here on Housewife, I finally launched on this week. It might be a small comment contest but it’s a start. I have some great ideas for upcoming contests, so it feels great to finally get one in motion. I also have a contest to get started at BellaOnline. I’m the Card and Board Games editor and have a few games to giveaway. Hopefully I will have those in place by the end of the week.Around the house I have been slowly unpacking from our move. We spent the month of September renovating our new place. I think I took some before pictures and will have to take some after today. I have felt pretty accomplished the past few days, but there is still much more work to be done. Not even half of our belongings are unpacked. I need to tackle having a rummage sale soon.

We are having a rummage sale this Friday. I plan to put in a lot of items that we no longer use and don’t want to move at the end of the month. It’s great to move into a cheaper place but stressful since it is smaller than our current abode. So, I definitely need to downsize now. What I plan to tackle today are:

I already have some boxes ready to go. Also I need to plan on not being home for a few days since the rummage sale will be at my folk’s and I’ll be staying the night with them.

One game that we really got into for a few months was Dreamblade. It’s a game where you buy miniatures and build your warband. You then take on an opponent and battle until someone meets the winning conditions. It’s a fun game but we have accumulated a lot of minis and will never use half of them. So, today’s tackle is to sort through them, make a couple of warbands, and sell the rest through my eBay store.

The picture is only about 15% of how many figures we actually have. I’m going to run them as lots. I have better luck selling lots than individual items. Also since we are moving in a few weeks I’d like to trim down our stuff as much as possible.

We keep out Diet Coke bottlcaps to enter the codes in the My Coke Rewards promo that has been going on for over a year. You can enter 10 caps a day and since we don’t enter caps every day, we have a small pile here and there of these red caps.

My tackle for today is to round up all the codes into one place. I have a huge popcorn tin that I plan to put all of the caps in, then we can just count out ten to enter for the day. Here is just one pile of caps we have.

I’ll add my barrel of caps later when I’ve added as many as I can find. oh and yes, we do drink waaayyy tttoooo much Diet Coke!

We have a ton of comic books and trading cards to sell, so after some thought I opened up en eBay store. I signed up for the basic store, which is $15.95/month. I listed my first item yesterday but have many more to do.

So, my tackle today is to organize what we have so I can start listing more items. I have have to take photos of everything and need to set up a semi-permanent picture taking station to make it easier. Hopefully this will be a great way to make a little money and get rid of all of our unwanted stuff.

I have a steep pile of books that I want to read. It just seems impossible to find time to read anymore. When I try to read right before bed, I fall almost immediately asleep. Since I’m behind on Harry Potter and have a ton of other books to read, I’m trying to read a chapter a day. Well, that is lagging behind, too. So, this Tuesday I plan to read at least one chapter of a book. I’ve chosen 48 days to the work you love.

It’s a book we wanted for a longtime and then ran across at a bargain price. I’ve had it for at least a year now and never cracked open the cover. Hopefully I’ll get at least one chapter read.

I’m also moving furniture today as we are rearranging every room in our home. A huge tackle that right now is a disaster. Hopefully we are doing the right thing to gain more living space.

My Tackle it Tuesday is all about my computer. I have a bad habit of downloading stuff and just sticking it “My Documents.” I also need to organize my digital photos. Once I have organized and deleted old files, I plan to defrag the computer. My computer has been a little sluggish lately which is usually a sign its time for a defrag.

So my tackle includes organizing “My Documents” folder in sub-folders, deleting old files, and defragging the computer. It’s something I’ve been putting off long enough. I’ll post a screen capture later of how (hopefully) neat it looks.
