PS3 Wins!

A few weeks back, I posted about my dilemma on whether to buy a Kinect or PlayStation 3 for Christmas. At the time, there was still Black Friday ahead of us and some fantastic deals out there. I held off on both since I just couldn’t make up my mind.

Fast forward to Saturday when my husband mentions his desire for a PlayStation 3 for his birthday. His birthday is December 27th – so it looks like the PS3 wins. Now to find the right PS3 bundle. It just seems a huge letdown just to buy the console. We definitely would like a little something extra with it. It does appear that you can build your own bundle at several places online – but then we have to wait for it to be shipped. Waiting – we’re not very good at it.

So it looks like soon we will have all three current console gaming systems – that is until the next big thing is released.

Oprah’s Favorite Things – Thrifty Edition

Oprah’s favorite things is my favorite show of hers each year. But most of the gifts are way out of my price range. They are great gifts but still on the pricey side. This is why I was excited to run across this article on Oprah.com about thrifty holiday gifts. It was on her show but I missed that episode.

There are some pretty neat ideas like the swap party. It’s a good way to find someone who needs something you already have. I also like the hot chocolate mixes using icing bags.

The article is full of great ideas. Most seem to be craft-related, so it will probably take a little bit of work to get the result that is pictured. But for those who craft, it can be a lot of fun. For me it would probably wind up to be more frustrating than anything.

Weekend Project

As you may have noticed, I do a few product reviews on my blog. It’s something I enjoy doing and love taking my own photos of the product to use with my posts. The problem is that I live in chaos and finding an uncluttered section to take a picture can be quite challenging. So this weekend I’ve decided to make a lightbox.

I’m going to use this cardboard box, a box cutter, and some white poster board to create a lightbox. I found instructions for it at Instructables.com and will have to find them again before I actually start the project.

Hopefully it won’t take long to do this as I would like to try it out this weekend. The instructions seemed easy enough, but I guess it will all depend upon how handy I am with a box cutter. On second thought, I might be better off just buying a lightbox instead.
