2011 Big Accomplishments

Now that I’m older, it seems time just flies by. And just like that, 2011 is almost over. It has been a really good year for us and looking forward to 2012. I thought it might be fun to share some of my 2011 accomplishments – those things that I am most proud of that I did this year.

Got my first blog/domain back. The first domain I ever registered was Rompez.com way back in 2005. My plan was to make a website about video games. The more I tinkered with it, the more I was drawn to blogging. I finally just installed WordPress on it sometime in 2006-2007. After adding Geeky Housewife, I blogged less at Romperz and let the domain go in 2010. In 2011, I wanted it back but at first I couldn’t register it. Then I waited a few more months and then was able to once it had been a year since I let it go. So now I have it back and am really happy about it.

Whistling. On a trip to visit relatives sometime earlier this year, my daughter decided to learn to whistle. She practiced and practiced – finally mastering it. I have never been able to whistle but gave it a try when she was learning. I finally can make some whistling noises and hope to hone this skill in 2012.

Got a job. I returned to work full-time. It is bittersweet since I really love the money but hate the change to my schedule. There is no time for doing all of my side projects – not like I was blazing through them before. I do plan on quitting at some point in 2012 – hopefully when I am making decent money freelancing. So, 2012 will have many challenges for me when it comes to time management.

I lost 30 pounds! I did some dieting this year and was successful. There is still more to lose though.

I ran my first 5K. I miss running. I haven’t been running the past three months and really miss it. Looking forward to running many miles in 2012.

I’m sure there’s more stuff I’ve done this year but this is what sticks out most. How was 2011 for your?

Housewife no more

Well at least for now. A few weeks ago I started a full-time job. What am I thinking?!?! I know what I’m thinking. The money will help us get ahead but still it’s really hard to leave home.

I haven’t worked full-time since I went into labor four years ago. I had never planned on going back to work full-time but decided to give this job a try. To me it’s only temporary since I really don’t want to work full-time while my daughter is in school. I want to be home when she is out of school and there for her if she needs me during the day. I also plan to be a PTA mom, home room Mom, or any other volunteer opportunity.

Now that I’m working, it’s been an adjustment to the new schedule. Still I hope that once I get into the swings of things that I can get back to regular blogging and some other ventures that I’ve been neglecting.

Programming Note

In a move to simplify, I’ve decided to close a couple of my blogs. Not this one! But I was posting so infrequently on the others that it seemed silly to keep them around.

Occasionally I may post something here that I would have place on one of those blogs – a photo blog and a Mommy craft blog. Geeky Housewife will still remain primarily focused on household tips but now there will be an occasional craft article or photo that I just feel the need to share like this one.

My sunflowers are blooming. I’m so excited and can’t wait to plant more since I actually grew them from seeds.

I’m kind of looking forward to sharing more of my hobbies on GH rather than just posting about laundry, cleaning, and organization.

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving! It’s been a busy month and I’ve decided that I need to re-think all the Christmas gifts I had planned on making. It’s taking me longer to do them than anticipated. So, I’m going to scale back so that I stop stressing myself out.

I do have a few items to get to before the end of the month. I will posting a book review sometime this weekend along with a giveaway for the book. I do have a few more reviews/giveaways coming up in the next few weeks before Christmas.

This year we are staying close to home for Thanksgiving instead of traveling, which is a good thing since the little one was sick last night. Poor baby had a fever, chills, and couldn’t keep anything down.

Hope everything has a safe and healthy Thanksgiving!

SinuCleanse and the week that was

This week has been sort of a blur but that’s expected after a long holiday weekend. Monday seemed very painful while Tuesday seemed productive. Wednesday was gone before I knew it. And here it is Thursday.

I have been using my neti-pot and SinuCleanse a lot this week as my sinuses have been really bothering me. The SinuCleanse does help to relieve the pressure and let me breathe again. Still, it’s aggravating to have sinus/head issues in July. It just seems wrong.

So I haven’t felt much like blogging or doing anything the past few days. Hopefully Friday will be better. This weekend we are going canoing. I have never been and neither has my husband. It should be quite the experience. I just hate that I don’t have a waterproof case for my camera. We will probably buy a disposable waterproof one but I’m spoiled to digital. I just don’t think it’ll be as fun to take pictures with it or that they will turn out to be anything we will like.

I did edit a little video to put up on the blog but have yet to successfully upload it to You Tube. Maybe tonight will be the night. Don’t get too excited. It’s just me and the girl demonstrating how to stuff a plush animal that I got from Stuff N Snuggle(I joined the company as a rep last month).

So here is hoping that I will wake up Friday feeling fit as a fiddle and ready to tackle the world again. Stranger things have happened I think.
