A dear friend of mine is getting married this weekend, so I would love to get her something nice for her wedding. But with a limited budget, my options are not that great but there is a neat website that lets you divvy up the price of an item between several people.
It may be easy to pool your money together when you live in the same city, but it’s not so easy when friends are scattered across the country. Divvy.com makes it easy for people to create a gift registry and then invite others. You can suggest an amount for participants when you send the invite. Participants can opt to send a gift card in case the invitation is not fully funded.
There are many gifting opportunities that can happen from birthdays to baby showers. Edivvy can be a great tool to get those much needed more expensive baby items like strollers and car seats - at the same time giving friends a very affordable way to give something you really need.
Edivvy is filled with unique gift ideas and gift suggestions in categories like new parents, shutterbug enthusiasts, and iPod owners.
This is one website I will keep in mind when it comes to Christmas and birthdays. It seems we buy so many gifts and always have a tight budget. But if our friends and family had an event on Edivvy, gift buying would be much simpler and we would help to get them something they really need.

The best option that you can do if you are tight on budget is to buy wholesale items and Do-It-Yourself the gifts. I will be appreciated by the guests because of the personal touch you added to it plus it can also be the time to bond with other friends by inviting them to help out in handcrafting the gifts. Or if you have the skills to bake, then edible gifts will be a second option. You can make more from a small budget and surely both the children and adult guests will love it.
Best wishes to your friend! June is a good month for weddings!

This is a really good idea; I’ve had never heard of it before-

What an awesome idea! No trying to get the money people owe you when you get together on buying a gift. That is always awkward.

This is a great idea! Another unique approach is to put a “green” spin to it. Fabric gift wrap, especially those of ECORATIONS, make great gifts themeselves, or can be used to wrap a simple gift and make it look fabulously fun and chic. The bags have a ton of reuse ideas (like clutch purses, lingerie bags, etc.) or they can be re-used to wrap other gifts.

Go Small But Meaningful
You don’t have to give the big gift to be thoughtful. Think about what your friend love best and look for a way to upgrade that experience.
Figure out the gratification that your friend deny herself, whether it’s expensive face cream or microbrew beer.
You’ll discover for yourself that it is the thought that counts, while giving your wallet a break.

I am really impressed with the site because I can see 2009 Toyota Prius there. It looks like good site and I’ll be checking it in more detail.

I dont know what my feelings are on gift registries…I like them I guess but I think they are a bit selfish and saying ‘you HAVE to buy me something” Maybe I feel that way because no one ever buys me anything haha… No one throws me parties to even be able to have a registry.. I do like that you said they make it easy for people that dont live near by! That sounds like a great idea.

YES…. all the other comments about “crafty” gifts…. they so are the best, made and given with love has always been my fave gift!

I wish my daughter and future son in law knew about this before they did their registry for their wedding. I have to see if it will work with Target. I see it as one of their stores.

That is a truly clever idea (and a lot of other great suggestions and ideas in this comment area!). Money is tight, and yes you want to give something lovely, but sharing costs or “do it yourself” I think most people would understand. Those that don’t would be just in it for the gifts anyway…

Gift Registries that offer alternative options and ideas for tighter budgets are a great idea. Enabling group presents etc not only means that people can still contribute without overspending, they also mean you can have bigger and more expensive items you need where groups can buy for you such as a fridge or dishwasher for your new house!
