It has been raining for the past four days. We usually have problems with ants. Those suckers are always in the yard, on the porch, and make it into the house - usually in the bathroom. It is just so frustrating.
This summer I plan to do all I can to beat down the ants. I use Black Flag spray in the house as it kills instantly and does protect for a few days after spraying. Last summer I used liquid Terro. It takes a few days but works. You do have to put up with a trail of ants as they travel to and from the bait taking it back to the nest. I used powder Terro in the yard last year. It worked OK but really it’s so hard to fight ants outside on their own turf.
This week I plan to use Sevin dust on the lawn to deter the ants. Inside I will use boric acid that the ants will hopefully eat and die. I will mix the boric acid with sugar water that will hopefully be appealing to the ants. I know of some hot spots around the house where we have seen ants before. Hopefully by placing the boric acid mixture in these areas, the ants will take it. It would be great to finally have these ants under control.

Is that for fire ants, or regular ants. I find if I sprinkle all doorways that go into the house with baby powder they do not come in. Matter of fact they were in our cupboard last year, and putting down baby powder not only killed them, but kept them from coming back. As for in the yard, it is a never ending battle. I did read if you take some ants from one nest, and put them in another nest, they actually fight each other, and the species will get more, and more weak.

At the low income senior high rise i visit, 11 floors.
The entire complex is infested with teeny, tiny red/orange ants.
The Orcan man comes out every two weeks and it is mandatory to have him spray. But 6 months now…. and still infestation.

The dust works! We had ants every year since we moved in. Those suckers were everywhere and crawling on everything. Was annoyingly disgusting. We surrounded the house with the dust stuff (I forgot the brand we bought) and we had no more ants! Good luck, regards!

Yea I think those ants needs to be poisoned and boric acid chemicals as far as I know is the last alternative to get rid of those suckers. I don’t know other solution if after boric acid their queen won’t still stop producing. Just leave the house I guess. LOL

You’ve got all the right remedies. We have had good luck with the Terro. Seven dust works well too! I heard about the baby powder, but haven’t tried that one.

It’s not easy to control those ants especially during rainy days. I have experienced that at home. I even got sick with those ants. I bought aerosols and bugs spray found in home improvement stores and grocery stores are capable of killing ants and so it really helps.
