It has been raining here all weekend. While we desperately need the rain, I don’t get much accomplished. All I feel like doing is sleeping and I really can’t do that with a house that is in shambles.
So how can I get motivated to clean when it’s raining? I guess I could look at it this way. I’m not going to get anything done outside of the house. It’s too wet to go to the park or outside. It’s too messy to really go shopping. So all that is really left is to stay inside.
Now that I’ve convinced myself that staying inside is the best course of action, how to get motivated to clean? I guess I could think about the guests we will have next weekend. If I don’t clean, then they will have no where to sleep or even sit for that matter. This week I want to continue rearranging our small living room. This weekend - before the rain begin - we moved out a large piece from the living room and put it in storage. This freed up some valuable living room real estate. Now it’s time to move a few other things around in hopes of getting the most from our small space.
Maybe after my morning caffeine and a little more examining of what needs to be done will be the motivation I need to get going. If not, there’s always tomorrow.

Breaking down your cleaning to room by room might help out. You can start with the messiest room first and once that is tackled, move on the less messier ones. It’s a huge relief once the worst is taken care of. Cleaning is definitely a time consuming job and having someone to help you out can help you get more achieved sooner. Get your kids or family members to help you out by assigning a specific area of your house to each member. Hope this helps!

Nothing motivates me to clean more than company coming.
I do the flylady.com 15 minute timer cleanings where you go as fast as you can on SOMETHING! ANYTHING! for 15 minutes and when the timer goes off you move onto something else.
She also has a way to clean a room starting at the door way and working your way around the room starting at the right side-I cleaned out a total wreck of a bedroom like that in less than two hours. 3 boxes-trash, stuff that goes in some other room and stuff to give away.
fly lady has so many cleaning missions every month. She’s really helped me get with the program! Rain makes me groggy too-I wonder why?
With really bad unorganized rooms I take everything out and paint it-then only put back in what I want it there-doing that in my living room right now though I’ve been interrupted with life so many times the furniture’s been in the middle of the room for a few MONTHS-lol.

I think that rain makes you very sleepy. When it rains for days that is all I want to do. Because there is nothing else to do. I don’t really do that anymore though when it rains I just start playing a game or get on the internet and browse for articles.
