Saturday, June 14 is Flag Day. Tomorrow our company is replacing their worn out American flag. This week they have been searching for places that will properly dispose of the American flag. Apparently the local VFW doesn’t offer this service nor does the local government. The Boy Scouts are all at camp this week are are unavailable.
There are organizations like Flag Keepers that will properly dispose of American flags. You need to order a prepaid envelope for shipping. The cost is a nominal fee of $5.
The proper way to dispose of worn American flag is by burning it. Respect should always be shown to the American flag, so keep this in mind when preparing to dispose of it. For more information on how to show respect to the flag, read the U.S. code on respecting the flag.
