A Cluttered Mind

After reading about Don Aslett on a post over at The Lazy Organizer, I was intrigued by it enough to check out who he was. He has written several books on cleaning and clutter.

Having a ton of stuff that I feel is weighing me down, I wanted to buy one of his books. So, I found one on Amazon that looked promising and will hopefully help me kick the clutter habit. It’s Clutters Last Stand and while I’ve only read a few pages, I’m ready to de-junk my home.

Clutter affects me daily. I put off doing things because I have to clean a spot off to do it. It takes forever to clean because of the clutter and putting away everything. I’m so ready to make a change and live with less. Hopefully it will take less time to clean plus my mind will not be on the clutter and hopefully I can be more productive.

So far I have taken one load to the thrift store. It felt so good to not only sort through some things but to get rid of the stuff we’re not using anymore.

    Hi!
Hopped over for the blog party, but didn’t get beyond today’s post yet :-)
Just wanted to say that Don Aslett’s books CHANGED MY LIFE! I got my first one about 25 years ago. At the time I was a young wife and mother and my house was a disaster. My mom, bless her heart, was not very domestic and her method of cleaning was to wait until it got so bad even she couldn’t stand it, and then she’d start cleaning about 2 a.m. and go until it was done about 10 p.m. that night. Ugh! So that was my training and example.
Aslett has a very well thought out, systematic way to “slowly by slowly” (as my Ugandan friends would say) clean your house AND KEEP IT CLEAN.
Obviously, with kids you can’t keep it perfect all the time, but we learned to de-clutter on a regular basis.
So have fun with the book and I know it will help!

About Housewife

I'm a mostly stay at home mom who loathes cleaning, cooking, and anything that remotely might be described as housework. I love trying new products and sharing household tips that save time and energy. Sure, I could post a ton of tips that I've read or found on the Internet, but I prefer to use tips and hints that I actually use.
