Every year it seems I take part in a Secret Santa gift exchange. The part of me that absolutely loves Christmas and shopping always signs up for this. Then the Scrooge part of me comes out when or if I receive my gift. Either I get nothing or I get something that is totally useless.

Usually I try to find out what the person likes or wants when I buy a Secret Santa gift. I also will give hints or downright give a list of what would make great gifts in the allotted price range for me. Most Secret Santas I have taken part in have been through online forums or other Internet contact, and most of the time you have a chance to write what you like. To avoid my disappointment all together, I’ve decided to refrain from taking part in any Secret Santas this year.

My new job apparently draws names for Christmas. I have a feeling it isn’t optional since I doubt there would be that many people taking part in it. I’m not wild about drawing names at the office either. I think my husband is still owed a Christmas gift from three years ago. I just started at this job and hardly know anyone. Buying a stranger a gift will certainly be a challenge as whomever gets my name will haven’t a clue what to get me either.

Consider this a gift guide for those office Secret Santas gifts. If you don’t know the person that well and can’t get hints as to what they want without your cover being blown, a gift certificate is always a welcomed gift. If for some reason they don’t like it, then they can trade/sell it on the Internet since there are websites dedicated to that type of thing.
